The work centres people first — prioritizing dignity and the real-world consequences of how stories are told and shared. This is not content for content’s sake. It’s human-first storytelling shaped by ethics and lived experience.
Why work with RIPC?
Many stories are passed over by newsrooms because they’re seen as unlikely to draw attention or because there isn’t the capacity to cover them — and in Canada, even published stories can't be shared on social media.
Led by a former journalist, this work makes it possible for those stories to be published and shared anywhere — with control staying in the hands of the people they belong to.
Joanne Roberts
Joanne Roberts is a former journalist and filmmaker who works with people-first, integrity-led storytelling. She is regularly sought out by those with stories that need careful handling, particularly when they’ve been overlooked or turned away by traditional media.
