The Art of Short-Form Storytelling

A hands-on workshop for emerging filmmakers, media makers, students, and creatives who want to tell stronger stories in shorter formats. This session explores how to create short-form work that is focused, engaging, and emotionally clear.

Participants look at real examples, break down story structure, discuss common pitfalls, and complete a guided writing activity designed to help them make every second count.

Ethics, representation, power, and responsibility in storytelling. 

Every story is shaped by choices. What we include, what we leave out, and how we frame someone else’s experience.

This hands-on workshop helps writers, journalists, filmmakers, and communications teams make thoughtful decisions around voice, context, representation, and responsibility.

Participants leave with a practical framework for telling stories that are compelling, nuanced, and accountable to the people at their centre.

Behind the Interview

Documentary interviewing, story construction, and representation.

A hands-on two-part workshop where students interview one another, then shape those conversations into short documentary pieces.

Participants learn how to ask stronger questions, listen for the story, choose meaningful moments, and make thoughtful editing decisions about how another person is represented.

The result is a practical introduction to documentary interviewing, editing, and responsible storytelling.

Two-session workshops start at $1,200 + GST. Session length and format can be adapted to the group, with extended and custom programming quoted based on scope.
